TRANSFER OF PLACE

Recent works by Melbourne based photographer Nick Wellman. Unique-state and series-prints, selected from a body of work recording excursions through Asian, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean landscapes and cultures.

Utilising various mediums, including manually-manipulated image transfers, emulsion lifts, and Ilfochrome prints.

The physical malleability and fluid result of the unique Polaroid based images, offers a reaction to the perceived stasis of the photographic image.

These methods are adopted as a means of exploring the inter-dependence of people and place, as interpreted by the voyeur. The resultant images offer glimpses of the practices of living.
