Collingwood Gallery will be celebrating five years of supporting local artists with a group show from 15 - 29 September 2005. A birthday party will be held on Saturday 17th September.
Since opening it's doors in late 2000, Collingwood Gallery has exhibited the works of over 230 artists, representing all areas of the visual arts.
The gallery has proved very popular with artists and visitors alike with its welcoming open-door policy and its situation among the characters and life of cosmopolitan Smith St, Collingwood.
As an artists' run space, these 230 plus artists have had the chance to test and display their work to an appreciative and knowledgeable local audience. Most artists have experienced strong sales and feedback and have reported that the two week event has been a stimulating experience.
Proprietor Mark Laidler and gallery art consultant Laurence Peterson are looking forward to providing a quality exhibition experience for artists and the visiting public alike for at least another five years.

Her art is influenced by a childhood in South East Asia . Many years were later spent in the cultural melting pot of the Northern Territory of Australia. Her style of work then took on a juxtaposed character. Jackson Pollock's influence is clearly visible in some of Cheryl's works. Her paintings have been exhibited and collected in London, USA, Taiwan,Shanghai, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong & Australia.

Summoning her Euro-Asian heritage, Telina's style is the epitome of all things exotic!
Her natural flair for fashion designing culminated in the launch of her first label, Town & Country Co-Ordinates which she created with one of her seven sisters in 1989.
She later branched out on her own, further developing her own style, focusing on exquisite luxury garments with a distinctive Japanese influence.
Today she is the Senior Designer and Creator of 'Kimonos by Telina' with agents in Australia , Japan , USA , Canada , & the UK
This unique self-styled label gives way to ain exclusive range of Kimonos that still retains and enhances the true aspects of traditional Japanese attire.

The exhibition runs from 16 to 28 April
Hidden Lives - A Mixed Media Exhibition
Collingwood Gallery
People who have been in institutions worked
with photographers, writers and multimedia artists to create artworks
which capture the emotional and social experience of institutionalisation
and which explore their lives beyond the institution This is an extremely
important exhibition which addresses a rarely discussed or explored
subject. The history for many people with an intellectual disability
was one of institutionalisation and removal from society. Many lived
their lives behind the closed doors of the institution. Their history
is one, which has largely been ignored by the community. This innovative
exhibition uses photographs, oral histories, videos, audio and projections
to their stories The stories are moving, insightful, horrific and even
at times humorous. Many experienced abuse, others develop friendships
and carved out a life in abnormal situations.
Supported by Australian Council for the Arts and VicHealth.
